Gavin Robinson

Gavin graduated from the University of Waikato, with a degree in Chemistry, and also a special interest in electronics and engineering.  Gav worked at Hill Laboratories in Hamilton, starting as a technician operating flame AA and graphite furnace AA, then ICP-MS and ICP-OES instruments.  Over 14 years at Hills, Gav managed the Trace Elements Testing Division, Clinical Testing Division and was a senior manager & shareholder.

In 2005 Gav and his wife Kylie set up Robinson Scientific Ltd, a company specialising in Trace Element testing and related technologies.  Robinson Scientific is the New Zealand distributor for PerkinElmer ICP-MS instruments, and Gav is a factory trained and very experienced instrument service engineer in addition to his Product Specialist and training roles.

Gav has been an invited speaker at a number of overseas conferences, has assisted analysts as far afield as Australia, the USA & Papua New Guinea, and currently runs regular ICP-MS Training Courses from the Robinson Scientific Demo Lab in Hamilton.

Gav has a keen interest in trace elements, especially in relation to human health, and he has advised and assisted with trace element analysis on several human clinical trials.

Gav has been involved with the NZ Trace Element Group Organising Committee for many years, and currently also looks after the web site.
